Nature

Have you found yourself on a trail, a park or in your backyard watching nature?

The first instinct of the mind is to interpret what it is seeing, colors, form, texture, and then look at your brain’s library and search for similar things you have seen in the past, then when it finds something that matches what your are seeing, then it categorizes it. Now your mind knows what it is, or at least knows in what category it fits.

After your mind categorizes what you are seeing, then it starts to add labels to what you are seeing, and it keeps doing that with everything you see from nature, it compares and labels everything you see. Most of the times the things you see enter in a category when you have seen better in the past, so what you are seeing is not as good as what you have seeing in the past. Your mind introduces you into an interesting conversation about what you are seeing. At that time you are just entertaining yourself with that conversation and you are skipping the experience of nature in front of you

This is what we call interpret Nature, and when your mind does it then you are not seeing anymore, you are only comparing this experience with your past experiences.

I you know this, you will have more chances to resist the temptation to categorize things and enjoy the experience in front of you.

When you don’t interpret things as goos or bad, or categorize things in your mind, you enter into the present moment, you become the presence that is experiencing something in that exact moment.

This is one of the most beautiful experiences you could have, and when you do that you start to notice without interpreting it, that nature becomes more alive than you ever thought before.

In the end nature is always alive, but we are always looking at it true the dark glasses of the mind.

Next time you have the chance to be in nature, be aware of this and experience nature in its perfection.

Hopefully someday you could do the same with every moment of you life, then you would be able to experience life as it really is.

God Bless You

10 principles to a peaceful life

We are trying to control everything in life, but if we could learn we can let God do His job we would have a more relaxed and peaceful trip in this life, where joy would come easily, and we would enjoy every moment in our lives.

A simple way to understand this is comparing our trip in life with a trip on a plane.

1. Relax: This may sound so simple, but in this busy life we have created for ourselves, everything seems to be an struggle, we thing that we need to worry about everything in order to care about everything, but we could accomplish much more if we do everything in a relaxed mode, we could live healthier and do more, and yes give ourselves some time everyday just to relax. You wouldn’t have to go to the doctor as often, and eventually you would find more time for your self to relax.

2. Enjoy the view: You may ask What view? That is because we thing there is nothing going on out there, because we are so immerse in our thoughts all the time that we don’t have a second to look outside, but let me tell you; there is always something going on outside, there is something amazing out there, you just need to open your eyes, and close your mind and just look, see all the textures, colors, then see the trees, flowers, clouds, blue skies, sunlight, rain, snow, you will be amazed how many things are out there that you didn’t notice before

3. For sure someone is there to help you: There is someone that is more than happy to help you. Kindness is a quality of humans, we all have kindness and compassion inside of us, though some may show it and others will never do, you can always find the right people to help you, and if you think you can’t find anyone to help you, then go outside, open you arms and say to the sky “I need help”, and you will have it.

The Pilot who always knows what He is doing, let Him do the job.

4. There is a pilot and crew just to take you safe to your destination: There is always, in every moment of your life the ultimate Pilot who always knows what he is doing, let Him do the job, when you are on an airplane you don’t go with the pilot and say ” I think you are going too far east” you trust the pilot all the time, because you know that he knows, if not then you wouldn’t had purchased a ticket,if you wouldn’t trust the pilot. Now imagine what God knows compared to the pilot; trust God.

5. Breathe: All right we are always breathing, but breathing consciously makes a big difference, not only will make you feel relaxed, but it will make you be aware of yourself.

6. If something goes wrong there are face masks and life vests to help you: Sometimes things can go wrong, sometimes the unexpected can happen, but be sure that God would never send you something you could’t deal with, he will always provide you with whatever you need at that moment.

7. You were meant to fly: Sounds like a cliché, but we all were meant to be something great, and most of the times greater than we think we are. You can achieve great things if you believe you can. Wayne Dyer says you could accomplish things beyond your wildest dreams.

8. This is the only trip you have in this moment and only you are the only one that can choose to enjoy it or not: Now is unique and is the only moment you have, not what you had or what you will have in the future, you just have this moment to work with, and you are the only one that could decide to enjoy it or to complain about it, that doesn’t mean you cannot change things, if you don’t like something, this is the moment to change it instead of complaining about it, it is your choice.

9. Bad weather may shake the plane but be sure the sun is always behind the clouds: If you can’t see the sun it doesn’t mean it isn’t out there, so even if you forget about God in your cloudy days, you could be sure He is always there, He will never leave you and will always think about you, even if you don’t.

10. There are many passengers but only one plane we are one with the plane at this moment: We are all connected, we are one in our deepest selfs, we are not separated from the others, not because we have different bodies it means we are separated from the others, the ego is the one that makes you think that, and that feeling of separation is the cause of the suffering in this world, so if you could comprehend the oneness of everything you would have a peaceful and happy trip. I Hope you have it.

Do I live in a friendly or a hostile Universe?

This is the second part of Einstein’s philosophical thoughts.

Einstein who is best remembered as a scientist, found wisdom in his search for true, He said this:

“The most important decision you’ll ever make is
whether you live in a friendly universe or a hostile universe”

This literally can change the way you perceive the world, the way you perceive reality, because if you choose to live in a hostile world, then you will find a hostile world everywhere you go.

You may think these are just feeling good words, which may sound nice, and eventually may work for some issues, but they can’t change the word as it is.

Well these words are more powerful than you may think, let’s have simple example of how we perceive the “world outside”.

Try to remember when you were going to buy a car, let’s say you decide to by an specific car from a brand, almost everyday when you are on the streets, you may start noticing the same model of car you want to buy, you start noticing there are different types of the same model you want to buy, and you start encountering more and more cars of that brand than ever before.

The cars did not show up magically that day, they already were there before, but you didn’t notice them, because you didn’t think about them, but in the moment you start to think about it, they seem to show up more and more.

There is no difference with what Einstein said, (after all he is considered the brightest mind of the last century) when you choose to live in a hostile word, you start to find bad news, the people you talk to seem to tell you bad news most of the times, you find the worst drivers on your way, and bad news become a part of your life. It doesn’t mean there are not good people or good news, but you chose to live in a hostile Universe, therefore you perceive a hostile Universe everywhere you go.

The opposite is true as well, when you choose to live in a friendly Universe, you start to see opportunities everywhere you start to see more and more good news, or maybe you stop watching the news, you find good people all the time, good things start to happen. It doesn’t mean that there are no more bad news, it is just that you decide not to focus on them and start focusing in good things instead.

Trungnpa Chogyam in his book The Sacred Path of the Warrior has a very important observation:”we can actually cure ourselves of depression if we recognize that the world we have is good”

If you decide to live in a friendly world and wake every morning saying to yourself

I live in a friendly world.

Then at some point, you may find yourself in a different word, because you discovered reality is nothing else than what we perceive trough our thoughts, through the memories we have accumulated from the past, and that it is different to everyone, because everyone has chosen, even without knowing to live in a friendly or a hostile world

It is your choice

God Bless you

Who’s packing your parachute?

Last Sunday I was watching Joel Osteen’s show(www.JoelOlsteen.com), and he was telling the story of an US Pilot, named Charles Plumb, here is the story:

He was a US Navy jet pilot in Vietnam. After 75 combat missions, his plane as destroyed by a surface-to-air missile. Plumb ejected and parachuted into enemy hands. He was captured and spent 6 years in a communist Vietnamese prison. He survived the ordeal and now lectures on lessons learned from that experience.
One day, when Plumb and his wife were sitting in a restaurant, a man at another table came up and said, “You’re Plumb! You flew jet fighters in Vietnam from the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk. You were shot down!”
“How in the world did you know that?” asked Plumb.

“ I packed your parachute,” the man replied. Plumb gasped in surprise and gratitude. The man pumped his hand and said, “I guess it worked!” Plumb assured him, “It sure did. If your chute hadn’t worked, I wouldn’t be here today.”

Plumb couldn’t sleep that night, thinking about that man. Plumb says, “I kept wondering what he might have looked like in a Navy uniform: a white hat, a bib in the back, and bell-bottom trousers. I wonder how many times I might have seen him and not even said Good morning, how are you?’ or anything because, you see, I was a fighter pilot and he was just a sailor.”

Plumb thought of the man hours the sailor had spent on a long wooden table in the bowels of the ship, carefully weaving the shrouds and folding the silks of each chute, holding in his hands each time the fate of someone he didn’t know.

Now, Plumb goes around the world giving conferences, and he always asks his audience:

“Who’s packing your parachute?”

The People that is packing our parachutes are the ones that we don’t notice most of the times, the people that do the “small things” for us: the people that is cleaning the streets, cleaning the office, the policeman, the waiter at the restaurant, the cashier at the grocery store. All those people that we sometimes barely notice and that many times we don’t even know their names, are always there for us, even when we don’t even notice them.

You could do many things for these people behind you, but sometimes the best way to do something for them is to say “thank you” from the heart, letting them know, that they are really important for you, that they are doing a great job for you and that you really appreciate it.

A simple way to do this is to do it one at a time, this way we can start by finding one person that does somethong for us, and start thanking one person every day, trying to be aware of all the persons behind you, one person per day, one at a time. you can write them a letter, an email, a text message, you can thank them in person.

I am pretty sure you won’t run out of persons that are now helping you, you may even notice that you are aware of more and more people every day that are there to make your life easier.

I also want to Thank You for reading my posts.

The Memory of God Comes to the Quiet Mind

“The memory of God comes to the quiet mind. It cannot come where there is conflict. For a mind at war against itself remembers not Eternal Gentleness…What you remember Is a part of You. For You must be as God created You. Let all this madness be undone for you, and turn in Peace to the remembrance of God, still shining in your quiet mind.”

~ A Course in Miracles ~

20110407-094834.jpg

Everything in this A Course of Miracles' lesson is so true, if you put it in practice, it will change your whole life for sure. It is so great and so simple it seams easy, but it is not. A quiet mind is a great goal to achieve, but even to the enlightened ones it wasn't easy at some point.

I don't mean it is not attachable, it is attachable to everyone even for short periods of time, when your thoughts are not present in our minds.

For me the key to start this process is here:

"Let all this madness be undone for you and turn into Peace"

If we have the consciousness to understand this and "know" that there is a madness inside of our minds and that the constant current of thoughts we have all day is creating it, then we would be able to stop it and choose Peace instead

We have around 45,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day, and most of them are the same ones we had the day before, and so on. So how do we stop that endless current of thoughts?

First step is be the observer. If we recognize we are not our thoughts, then we can "see" our thoughts as if we will be watching a movie, then we can recognize those thoughts that repeat constantly. The moment we recognize them, they loose strength, and start to dissolve, creating space between thoughts.

Every time we are able to create that space we are creating an opportunity to have the Memory of God.I love this part where it says " The memory of God", which means we originally came from God before we were born, but we start to loose that memory as we grow up and fill our minds with thoughts, rules and concepts. But if we claim our memory back then we will be able go live in Peace.
